An important aim for Homes for Cathy is to promote our successes – not only to share knowledge and practices that can be replicated by our members, but also to challenge and inspire others outside of the group to support ending homelessness.
We want to encourage members to tell us about what works well in terms of delivering the Homes for Cathy commitments and what they have learned along the way.
For example, have you formed a successful partnership with a charity to deliver a homelessness service locally?
Do you offer pre-tenancy training to tenants – such as budgeting, understanding the benefits system and managing the unexpected – to reduce the risk of eviction?
Maybe you offer intensive support to new tenants in the first year of tenancy? If so, what has been the impact?
Perhaps you ensure that the properties you offer to homeless people are ready to move into – for example by pre-loading the gas and electric meters or making provision for white goods?
In cases where applicants aren’t deemed eligible for a home, have you collaborated with a local service such as Citizen’s Advice Bureau to offer alternative solutions?
Whatever it is, we want to hear about the fantastic work you are doing towards ending homelessness – to make it easy, we’ve created a downloadable form. Please send completed forms to H4Cgoodpractice@broadlandgroup.org by 14 October 2019.
We will be sharing examples of good practice on the website and in future publications/publicity material.
