Meet Michael

Sometimes life isn’t easy as Michael knows. Aged just 20, Michael lives at the Croft, one of Bromford’s young homeless schemes in Cirencester.

Michael has had a complex and sad start in life and didn’t grow up in a secure family unit. Struggling to cope, he found solace in music after taking a course provided by the Princes Trust. Now he is able to tell his tale through tunes.

Music has become a big part of his life and he has written a song about what he has been through. He says: “It’s the first time I’ve written music. It takes me out of situations I’ve been in and lets me get my feelings out instead of bottling them up. I can express emotions that I might not be able to otherwise.”

Support worker, Rachel Brown added,  “We are so proud of Michael. He has been through so much for someone so young but he is getting back on his feet and starting to address his background. He has such a caring personality and goes out of his way to help people. He has been proactive in getting work.”

Michael said: “Life was very difficult for a number of years but things are looking up now. My advice to anyone having a hard time is to keep going and think positive. As my song says, I’m now anticipating what the future brings and nothing is impossible if you try. I won’t let this get me down because I’m better now.”
