SiminSimin had found herself homeless with no option but to sleep on a church pew.  A refugee from Syria, she had recently been granted permission to remain in the UK but had been asked to leave her temporary accommodation.  Speaking little English, Simin was vulnerable and did not know where to turn until Shelter referred her to St Vincent’s Housing Association.

St Vincent’s, along with other housing partners in the area, run a project called SnugBug which was set up to provide affordable, safe and secure shared accomodation for people aged up to 34 across Manchester.  The team at St Vincent’s were able to help Simin settle into a new shared home in Withington, Manchester.

Since the move, Simin is feeling much more settled and independent and has signed up to a course to improve her English.  Now that she is closer to amenities such as the local library she is actively looking for jobs via the Job Centre and feels much more positive about the future.
